The Red Valley
The Red Valley which sits at an altitude of 5200 meters is located about 2 hours (by transportation) Southeast of Cusco. It is a sprawling epic mountain range in the Pitumarca District, province of Canchis. The pink color is due to red clay, fangolitas (mud) and arilitas (sand) while the red is due to claystones (iron) and clays belonging to the Upper Tertiary period.
Location: The Red Valley, Peru
